Training on Bee Keeping
TIES conducts a practical training program on bee keeping, which you could execute in your homesteads. The training will be conducted at TIES research institute at Velloor, Kottayam on November 4th and 5th. The two day workshop will be lead by expert horticulturists. The workshop includes classes on the science of bee keeping and practical on the bee keeping procedure. You will be introduced to TIES bee hive model and different stages of horticulture during the workshop. Also, bee hives and honey bee colony are available at TIES for those who would like to purchase it.

Mushroom Farming Training
Kottayam: Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) at Velloor, Manarcad is conducting mushroom farming training to cultivate mushroom using the common facilities within the homestead. The training program includes various sessions like lecture conducted by experts, demonstration of mushroom farming and laboratory training on mushroom spawn production. The training will begin with a lecture at 10 am and demonstration of farming techniques in the afternoon. You will be given the opportunity to visit the model mushroom farm at TIES. Story of Peringankulam
Peringamkulam is a pond located at Perambra in Kodakara Panchayath, Thrissur district, close to NH 47. Till one year back this pond was in an abandoned condition, full of weeds and even separation between land and water was not visible. Wastes including plastics scattered on the surface in between the weeds was a common sight. In 2014, Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) conducted a Biodiversity assessment study for Apollo Tyres, in their campus at Perambra and the surrounding areas. As part of this study 38 ponds in Kodakara GP was listed and Peringamkulam got special mention.
