Project “Thanal” is an esteemed project of TIES which aims to plant avenue trees at State highways and bypasses inorder to curb air pollution and provide shade. The project is jointly implemented by TIES , NSS Unit St Mary’s College, Manarcad and Social Forestry Department, Kottayam.

Thanal project was inaugurated by Honourable Kottayam District Collector, Smt. P K Jayashree, by planting a tree at Naalumanikattu.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dr. Punnen Kurian, Secretary, TIES; Shri. Saju K A, ACF, Social Forestry Department, Kottayam; Dr. G Prasad, DFO, Timber Sales, Perumbavoor; TIES staff and NSS Volunteers of St. Mary's College, Manarcad. The natural tree guard using bamboo was also placed by student volunteers.
