Vol. II. Issue 1. Summer Edition 2025

Between January and March 2025, the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) initiated groundwork for several key projects aimed at biodiversity conservation and environmental education. These included the establishment of a Butterfly Garden at the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) campus in Kottayam, the development of a bioacoustics tool for monitoring amphibian diversity in the Munnar landscape with support from the Centre for Wildlife Studies, and the implementation of various environmental education programmes and field surveys. In the final quarter of 2024, TIES continued its mission of biodiversity conservation, environmental education, and community engagement. Highlights include student visits from various institutions, hands-on workshops on sustainable practices, and progress on research initiatives like the bioacoustics tool for amphibian monitoring. The Environmental Journalism Internship was launched to nurture aspiring eco-reporters, while the Accelerate Cognitive Efficiency Internship for research aspirants in history gained momentum. TIES also strengthened collaborations with conservation partners, reinforcing its commitment to science-driven environmental solutions.
