Students from the Department of Zoology, Sree Sankara College, Kalady, had an enriching learning experience through nature during the "Enjoy Learning" one-day sensitization session at TIES.
Dr. Punnen Kurian, Secretary of TIES, led the opening session, emphasizing the importance of biodiversity conservation, challenges in protecting ecosystems, and the need for preservation. He also introduced eco-friendly construction to expand students’ knowledge of green architecture.
Afterward, students participated in a campus walk exploring eco-friendly architecture, sustainable practices, and household waste management techniques, along with a basic introduction to water quality analysis, promoting responsible environmental stewardship.
The program included a field walk where students examined the campus's native biodiversity, observing butterflies, flora, fauna, and apiculture. This hands-on experience reinforced the critical role of local ecosystems and the importance of preserving native species for ecological balance.
The initiative not only deepened students' knowledge of biodiversity conservation but also fostered environmental responsibility. The program was coordinated by Dr. Mini K.D. and Dr. Minimol K.C., Associate Professors in the Department of Zoology at Sree Sankara College, along with Mr. Sarath Babu N.B., Ms. Anju Ajikumar, Ms. Neethu Nair M.N., Ms. Arya Shaji, Ms. Jomol Joseph, and Mr. Jijomon P.P. from TIES.
