Hands-On Learning: TIES and Pallikoodam School Collaborate for Ornamental Fish Culture Training

TIES conducted an enlightening training session on ornamental fish culture for the 7th grade students of Pallikoodam School, Vadavathoor, Kottayam . The training was part of TIES’ Enjoy Learning Skills Programme, designed to nurture a conservation mindset among children. 

The training, led by Mr. C. K Rajan , retired Deputy Director of Fisheries, and Mr. Sarath Babu N.B., Nature Education Officer at TIES, covered various topics such as the types of ornamental fish, breeding techniques, nutrition, and aquarium setup. The interactive session captured the attention of 38 students and 3 teachers, creating an engaging environment for knowledge-sharing.

This initiative is part of TIES’ broader mission to equip students with practical skills for sustainable living. The training not only introduced participants to ornamental fish culture but also deepened their understanding of environmental conservation and the interdependence between humans and nature.

By working together, TIES and Pallikoodam School aim to instill a conservation mindset through innovative activities like the ornamental fish culture training. This ongoing collaboration serves as a platform for developing environmentally conscious citizens equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for leading a sustainable lifestyle.

The session was coordinated by Ms. Deepa Cherian, Ms. Saira Susan Kurian, and Mr. Nandakumar P.M., faculty members from Pallikoodam School, alongside Ms. Anoopa Mathews (PRO), Ms. Abhirami K.P. (Project Manager), and Mr. Jijomon P.P. (Visual Media Manager) from TIES.
