Attaining ISO Green audit certificate: leading the way towards sustainability
KG College, Pampady has become the first accredited college in Kerala, for Green Audit at international standards. The college successfully completed a comprehensive audit process, assessing its Environment Management System (EMS), Energy Management System (EnMS), Water Efficiency Management System (WEMS), Campus Biodiversity Management System (CBMS), Waste Management System (WMS), and Carbon Footprint (CF).Implementation of these systems aligns with ISO standards, marking a significant milestone for the college. The systems were implemented according to ISO standards for the first time, with certified internal auditors conducting thorough assessments and rectified non-conformities. The external audit, conducted by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES), an ISO accreditation body, resulted in the issuance of a certificate adhering to ISO standards. Remarkably, the entire process was completed within a tight time frame of three months.
The official certification ceremony occurred on March 18, 2023, at the BMM Hall, KG College, Pampady. Dr. Punnen Kurian, Secretary of TIES, presented the certificate, Green Audit Report, and Manual of Documented Information to Prof. Renny Varghese the college's Principal. Lt. Renish, IQAC Coordinator, delivered the welcome speech, while Prof. Renny Varghese and Dr. Joy Thomas, NAAC SSR, Criterion 7, coordinatoroffered their remarks. Ms. Archana, Coordinator of EMS, Ms. Namitha George, WMS coordinator, Ms. Noal Abraham, CF coordinator, Mr. Ratheesh R, EnMS coordinator, Ms. Libi Thambi, CBMS coordinator, and Ms. Shipla, student coordinator, shared their reflections and insights. Ms. Joythi V delivered the vote of thanks. Notable attendees from TIES included Ms. Abhirami K P, Project Manager, Ms. Anoopa Mathews, PRO, and Mr. Jijomon P.P, Graphics and Visual Editor.
