Now-a days interest on mushroom farming has riased due to the array of viral and fungal infections in different parts of the world. Depending upon the nature there are poisonous as well as edible mushrooms and thus the importance of its farming arises. With less labour, care and capital we can make more benefits like health benefits, economic benefits and a way of living. Thus this Fascinating Fungi makes great space in once life if chosen and cultivated wisely. The nutritional value of the edible mushrooms is due to their high protein, fiber, vitamin and mineral contents and low fat levels and also contain different bioactive compounds that provide health benefits.
TIES as part of its capacity building initiatives is training community on mushroom farming at household levels under expert supervision. The second batch of TIES Online Mushroom Farming Training was completed with 99 participants from different parts of India. The training constituted sessions on Mushroom and Mushroom Farming along with practical session on bed preparation and open forum for doubts. It was a great success that the training was able to cover a huge crowd while considering the demographics. The introduction on Mushroom was given by Dr. Punnen Kurian, Secretary, TIES and Mushroom Farming session and bed preparation was led by Ms.Roshini Susan Elias, Senior Scientist and Mushroom Expert, TIES. The aim of TIES behind this is to make a healthier community and which becomes the need of the hour. Mushroom farming is also a good mode of earning, especially during this pandemic situation.
