2024-01-25

Mushrooms, widely recognized as a 'nutraceutical,' offer significant health benefits, necessitating careful attention in their cultivation. Mushroom farming stands out as a highly lucrative agri-business with the potential for low investment and minimal space requirements. As part of its capacity-building initiatives, TIES organized a one-day training session on mushroom farming.

The training program comprised two main components. The first, a Theoretical Insight segment, covered diverse topics such as Mushroom Introduction, Techniques in Tissue Culture, Mother Spawn Production Insights, Spawn Production Methodology, Efficient Bed Preparation, Post-Harvesting Technologies, and Prevention & Control of Mushroom Diseases. The second part involved Practical Exposure, where participants gained hands-on experience in Mushroom Bed Preparation.

Mr. Alex John, a Subject Matter Specialist in Plant Protection from ICAR-KVK, Pathanamthitta, led the training session, which was attended by 28 participants. This endeavor reflects TIES' ongoing commitment to enhancing skills within the environmental science community
