A training program preceding the Vembanad Odonate Survey took place at TIES Grove Hall. Dr. Abraham Samuel K, President of TIES, spearheaded the training, focusing on providing participants with comprehensive knowledge of dragonflies and damselflies, their habitats, reproduction, significance, survey techniques, and more. The training attracted 30 participants from diverse backgrounds, including students, professionals, and professors.
The field survey is scheduled for tomorrow (18.02.2024), spanning from Vaikom, to Changanassery. Thirteen teams, each comprised of an expert and participants, will survey 13 designated regions. Dr. Punnen Kurian elucidated the approach for assessing species diversity, while Sarath outlined the survey schedule and provided assignments.
