A comprehensive one-day training session on Poultry Farming, specifically focusing on chickens, was organized by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES). The session aimed to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage poultry farms effectively. Key topics covered included varieties of chicken breeds, their characteristics, and specific requirements; various poultry farming methods, types of feeds, nutritional requirements, and feeding schedules to ensure optimal health and productivity of the chickens; best practices in farm management, including hygiene, waste management, and environmental control; and essential vaccination and health management protocols. Models of cages were also demonstrated, and an open session for doubt clarification was held. TIES, committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle through sustainable practices, hosted the session led by Dr. Sajeev Kumar, Chief veterinary officer, Kottayam and Sarath Babu N B, Nature Education Officer at TIES. The session was attended by 15 participants from various sectors of the community.
