Workshop on Student Project for Physiotherapy and Life Science students

To foster a thorough understanding of technical fundamentals and advanced skills, educational projects and dissertations have become crucial components of modern academic programs. These initiatives not only expand knowledge but also promote an open-minded approach to learning.

TIES recently organized a one-day workshop focused on student projects, drawing participants from esteemed institutions in Kerala. The primary goal of the workshop is to equip students to undertake their projects scientifically and to develop a strong grasp of the scientific methods. Students from BCF College of Physiotherapy, Vaikom; CMS College, Kottayam; and Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta, representing undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Physiotherapy, Botany, and Zoology, took part in this collaborative and diverse learning experience. A total of 55 students and 2 faculty members attended the event. 

The workshop was led by Dr. Punnen Kurian, a research guide at TIES with 33 years of experience in research and teaching. The training explored the intricacies of selecting topics, setting objectives, research methodology, and project development. Additionally, the training involved field-level estimation techniques, such as quadrat studies, line transect studies, and other practical approaches to ecological data collection and analysis.

The workshop was coordinated by Ms. Anu Kuriakose and Ms. Chaithanya P V faculties from BCF College of Physiotherapy, Vaikom and Mr. Sarath Babu N B, Ms. Anoopa Mathews, Ms. Abhirami K.P., Mr. Jijomon P.P. and Varada M from TIES.
