Echoes of Nature: NSS HS Kothala Embraces 'Wings of Awareness'

NSS HS Kothala conducted the launch and orientation session for the "Wings of Awareness" bird-watching project, implemented by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) in collaboration with the Buimerc India Foundation. The event commenced with a welcome address delivered by Teacher Coordinator Arun S Nair, followed by the formal inauguration led by Headmistress Mrs. Jayasree, who highlighted the value of engaging students in environmental learning. Dr. Abraham Samuel, President of TIES, introduced the scope of the project, explaining how watching avian species fosters sharp observation skills, patience, and a deep appreciation for wildlife. TIES Project Officer Ms. Arathi Sasidharan then guided the participants through an interactive session on bird identification fundamentals, field ethics, and the digital logging process using the CROW App. The orientation concluded with a vote of thanks presented by student representative Saraswathi, leaving the young learners motivated to explore and safeguard the avian life around them.
