KSM BHS Karakkad conducted the inaugural ceremony and orientation session for "Wings of Awareness," a nature education project focused on bird watching, implemented by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) and supported by the Buimerc India Foundation. The programme began with a welcome speech delivered by Selma Jose, followed by the official inauguration led by Headmaster Anas PK. Dr. Nelson P. Abraham, Vice President of TIES, introduced the project, highlighting how bird observation helps young learners cultivate keen attention, patience, and a genuine appreciation for wildlife. An informative session covering bird awareness and identification techniques was conducted by Mr. Sarath Babu, Nature Education Officer and Project Coordinator at TIES, while Ms. Arathi Sasidharan, Project Officer at TIES, introduced the CROW App to guide participants on logging species data digitally. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Sneha Ephrem, leaving the students eager to begin their journey as young nature observers.
