St. Paul’s HS Vazhoor hosted the inaugural ceremony and student orientation program for "Wings of Awareness," a dedicated nature education project focused on bird watching, implemented by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) and supported by the Buimerc India Foundation. The gathering commenced with a welcome address delivered by Mr. Sabu Jacob. Following this, Dr. Punnen Kurian officially inaugurated the event and outlined the core objectives of the project, explaining how systematic bird observation helps cultivate environmental responsibility, patience, and a deeper connection to local biodiversity. TIES Project Officer Ms. Arathi Sasidharan then conducted an extensive technical session covering avian physiology, species identification techniques, and ethical field practices, alongside a practical demonstration of the CROW App to enable students to log their observations digitally. The orientation concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Ms. Sheena Varghese, encouraging the young learners to actively participate in exploring and safeguarding their immediate natural surroundings.
