Pathways to Avian Care: Clemis School Chingavanam Welcomes 'Wings of Awareness'

Clemis School Chingavanam conducted the launch and orientation programme for the "Wings of Awareness" bird-watching project, implemented by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) with support from the Buimerc India Foundation. The gathering opened with a welcome speech delivered by Vedha R Nair, after which School Manager Rev. Fr. Bibin Andrews officially inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of nurturing ecological sensitivity among young minds. Dr. Nelson P. Abraham, Vice President of TIES, introduced the project's vision, highlighting how observing local bird species enhances concentration, patience, and environmental awareness. An insightful session on bird identification and field observation techniques was led by Mr. Ajaya Kumar M N, followed by an introduction to the CROW App by TIES Project Officer Ms. Arathi Sasidharan to help students record species sightings digitally. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Vedika V Kaimal, motivating the students to begin their journey as mindful observers of nature.
