We deeply regret to inform you of the sad demise of our revered mentor, guide, and philosopher, Dr. Madhav Gadgil, who passed away on 7 January, at the age of 83. His funeral will be held today at Vaikunth, Panchavati, Pashan.                                            

Dr. Madhav Gadgil was an Emeritus Professor at TIES and played a pivotal role in guiding and shaping our conservation efforts. His contributions were especially significant in the areas of human–wildlife conflict mitigation and the conservation of the Western Ghats. His visionary leadership, profound ecological wisdom, and lifelong dedication to environmental conservation have left an enduring impact on our institution and the wider conservation community.

We express our deepest condolences on the passing of an exceptional scholar and humanitarian. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, colleagues, students, and admirers during this time of profound loss.
