With the objective of showcasing innovative waste management models, strengthening policy and infrastructure, empowering green entrepreneurship, and aligning waste-related activities with climate action, the conclave marks a significant step toward a cleaner and more sustainable Kerala.

TIES at Vruthi 2025

Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) is proud to be part of this significant event. TIES will be showcasing:

🔹 Boma Biosand Filter (BSF):

A low-cost, locally-built water filtration system effective in removing bacteria, turbidity, color, odor, and iron from drinking water. Developed by TIES in technical collaboration with Samaritan’s Purse, Calgary, Canada, this filter offers a practical solution for clean water access in rural and underserved communities.

🔹 Naalumanikkattu (Evening Breeze):

An inspiring community-driven rural ecotourism project in Kottayam, Kerala, initiated by the MEB Residents Association with technical support from TIES. Once a neglected dump yard, the area has been transformed into a vibrant evening destination with heritage food stalls set against serene paddy fields. The project promotes women’s empowerment, livelihood support, habitat conservation, energy and water sustainability, and celebrates local culture—aligning closely with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We sincerely thank Suchitwa Mission for the opportunity to showcase our work at this impactful platform.
