BMM English Medium Senior Secondary School organized the inauguration and orientation gathering for "Wings of Awareness," an innovative bird-watching initiative carried out by the Tropical Institute of Ecological Sciences (TIES) with backing from the Buimerc India Foundation. The session commenced with a welcome address by student representative Angeleena Arun, followed by the official launch conducted by Range Forest Officer Mr. Harilal, who stressed the necessity of engaging students in local biodiversity efforts. TIES President Dr. Abraham Samuel presented the core vision of the initiative, describing how routine bird observation instills focus, discipline, and environmental responsibility. Participants then attended an interactive session on bird species identification and field ethics led by Mr. Sarath Babu, Nature Education Officer and Project Coordinator at TIES, after which TIES Project Officer Ms. Arathi Sasidharan introduced the CROW App to show students how to log field findings on digital platforms. The program concluded with a vote of thanks expressed by student representative Niya Elsa Siju, leaving the young participants eager to explore the natural world around them.
