Public health studies are done to improve the conditions and behaviour that affect health. The mission includes not only the practice of public health policy, but also research of public health issues and the education of future leaders who eventually will translate that research into practices and policies to improve the health of people regionally, nationally, and globally. Studies on the Hepatitis epidemic in Kottayam district (2005), survey on viral fever epidemic in Kerala (2007), study of general health issues of communities on the fringe areas of waste dumpyards (2010; 2012); rodent borne fungal pathogens in wetland-agro ecosystems (2008-2012); and river pollution and potential threat of water borne diseases have been evoked significant response within the community and authorities.
